The COVID-19 pandemic rocked the 2020-21 college golf schedule, with some schools and conferences electing not to play in the fall.
Due to the unique season, this fall’s Haskins Award Watch List will feature players who competed in the fall and those who we project will contend for the award in the spring. The Haskins Award honors the player of the year in college men’s golf, as selected by college golfers, coaches and members of the college golf media.
The players are listed alphabetically. Those with an * did not compete this fall due to their school and/or conference’s pandemic protocols. Players on the Haskins Award Watch List were selected by a panel of Golfweek and Golf Channel writers.

The sophomore didn’t overly impress this fall, with a T-10 at Colonial and 2-2 record at the Big 12 Match Play, but he’s got the game to be a contender this fall.

Augenstein’s made cut at the Masters won’t count toward this award, but his second-place finish at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate and T-13 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational sure do.
Jonathan Brightwell, Oklahoma

Brightwell made a name for himself last season at UNC-Greensboro, and since his transfer to Oklahoma he’s logged two top 15s and was a bright spot for the Sooners at the East Lake Cup, winning two matches.
Parker Coody, Texas

Didn’t get a chance to take advantage of his great form following his win last fall at the Southern Highlands event in Las Vegas, but he’s consistently been in the mix this fall with a fifth-place finish at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational and a T-13 at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational.

One of the best players on arguably the best team in the country, the senior came back with the goal of winning a national title and showed his stuff with a T-2 at Colonial.

The junior’s T-19 at Colonial and T-9 at Maridoe are nice, but his 4-1 record at the Big 12 Match Play sure caught our attention.

After a somewhat disappointing T-21 at his home course at the Blessings, the junior won at Vanderbilt and logged a top-20 finish at the Jerry Pate.

The junior didn’t get a chance to compete for the Sun Devils this spring, but his quarterfinal run at the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes and ninth-place finish at the Southern Amateur bode well for a successful spring.
